After eight months, my left shoulder has fully recovered and I can now participate in my favorite activities without any pain. My overall strength has increased. I discovered this earlier in the spring when my 500-pound adventure (ADV) bike fell. Picking up my bike in muddy conditions is already a difficult task, let alone in the mud. The proper way to lift a bike like this is similar to performing a deadlift technique, which is part of my OPEX workout. Even though I had to lift my bike in the mud, it was surprisingly easy.

I believe that even though I have achieved some of my goals through the OPEX program, it is important for me to continue with the program and not become complacent about my health and fitness. I want to actively engage in life, rather than passively observing it. After retiring in January 2022, I wanted to maintain my fitness and continue pursuing the hobbies I love.

I enjoy engaging in outdoor activities such as hunting, fishing, skiing, and riding my off-road motorcycle. In the past, I experienced several injuries that resulted in lasting problems. I suffered a second degree shoulder separation from a dirt bike accident, which has led to limited range of motion and occasional pain. In 2014, I fractured three lower ribs, which impacted the transverse bones in my spine and caused further mobility problems. I joined OPEX because I recognized the need to improve the functionality of the damaged areas in my body.

I was excited to begin my journey towards improved fitness, functionality, and overall enjoyment of life. This involved improving the condition of my shoulder, restoring my core strength, and regaining the endurance I needed. After conducting a thorough assessment, Brandon developed a weekly workout plan for me. They initially coached me on proper techniques, emphasizing injury prevention and the long-term benefits of exercise. I discovered that this is not a sprint but a marathon, which is exactly what I was seeking. The team also discussed the importance of nutrition with me, emphasizing how it plays a crucial role in improving overall well-being. I highly recommend professional coaching in a structured program for anyone who is serious about maintaining their fitness and being able to continue doing activities they enjoy as they get older, especially if they have never experienced it before. It has been almost a year since I started working with the OPEX team, and I am grateful that I started when I did.
